s part of its Blue & Gold Celebration and Family Weekend, the will host a blood drive with the on Wednesday, Oct. 1. The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Smith Hall Lounge.
“According to the American Red Cross, there is a national shortage of blood products,” said Pam Freger, director of the 51 Health Center. “We encourage anyone eligible to donate to please schedule an appointment.” Freger also noted that anyone giving blood Sept. 22 through Oct. 19 will receive a $10 Amazon e-gift card. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 1-800-733-2767. Donors may also visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor keyword “HAIL2PITT.” Walk-ins are welcome but may have a longer wait time.
Donors may also streamline their donation experience and save up to 15 minutes by visiting RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass to complete the pre-donation reading and health history questions on the day of the appointment.
